Sunlight, COVID, and future pandemics

What’s so important about the sun?

The future as we now see it doesn’t look so bright, especially when your government takes away the sun both literarily and figuratively. First, it locks you in your house, apartment, or whatever residence you live in. You’re probably lucky if you’re homeless because no one can lock you up anywhere or tell you what to do. It is only when you are “civilized and educated” that the government and pretty much everyone else for that matter can make you suffer. Figuratively, you’re in the dark because the government is lying to you, the news is lying to you, and social media “fact checks” and censors the truth but it lets through all the lies. Quoting Denzel Washington “If you’re not listening to the news you’re not informed, if you do, you’re misinformed”.

But even more worrisome is our new and dangerous ability to interfere with and alter the DNA of various organisms, especially pathogens. This could bring much worse viral infections in the future than COVID-19 in terms of their ability to infect, harm, and/or kill people. During this recent pandemic, we’ve seen why in the future our society will be more vulnerable to new contagious infections, cancers, and many other diseases. The elderly population is growing worldwide due to better nutrition, resources, medical care, drugs, and a decrease in the number of children born per family.
